I’d rather be Colombian than American.
Unfortunately I have to work today (from which I am posting), and I feel exhausted and imprisoned! But I am looking forward to a relaxing and enjoyable evening with Ricky and his family when I finally do get off of work! To those who have the day off, seize it! Take advantage of the long weekend, if you can! Spend time with your family. Do what you can’t otherwise do!
I find it strange that people become mega-patriotic just because of this holiday, and I am choosing not to conform to that today, i.e., via donning the colors red of courage, white of purity, and blue of justice (yeah, how many of you Americans actually knew that?). It’s not that I don’t feel American or that I lack pride. Well, maybe I do lack pride, because I dress up for Halloween, wear green on St. Patty’s, and even wear red on Chinese New Year, occasionally, so it’s not an act of non-conformism. What makes today so different then?
Incidentally (though not accidentally), Colombia is playing Brasil (I like this spelling better) today in the World Cup, and I am wearing Colombian colors (though the red is not very visible in this photo):

—Yesterday’s workout went by really quickly. Don’t know why!
Barbell Deadlift to Knees
Barbell Bench Press
Dumbbell Bulgarian Split Squat
Dumbbell Side Bend
Medicine Ball Crunch
Back to work!
pow! (the sound of fireworks, but also cannons and guns),
PS. I got a free Uber ride to work today (not sure why it was free), and the driver was a Chilean lady named Margarita. Very sweet lady. Almost got in trouble with the cops because of me this morning. Anyway, we had a pretty nice conversation, and when I got out of the car, she shouted “¡Viva Colombia!” I loved that. ☺︎
PPS. I don’t regret rooting for Colombia.
